Henley Women's Regatta (HWR) is the premier women's rowing regatta in the United Kingdom and one of the most prestigious events in the international rowing calendar. Held annually on the River Thames at Henley-on-Thames, the regatta attracts crews from universities, clubs, schools, and national teams from across the UK and around the world.

Founded in 1988, Henley Women's Regatta was established to provide a dedicated championship event for female rowers and has since become a showcase for some of the highest standards of women's rowing. Racing takes place over a 1,500-metre course and features a wide range of events, from junior and university categories to elite and international competition.

Qualification for Henley Women's Regatta is highly competitive, with crews required to demonstrate the speed and standard needed to compete against some of the country's strongest opposition. For many university rowers, simply qualifying is a significant achievement, while progressing through the knockout rounds is a testament to exceptional preparation, teamwork, and performance.

In 2026, Swansea University Rowing Club celebrated a landmark achievement by qualifying and sending three women's crews to Henley Women's Regatta. Competing at one of the UK's most prestigious rowing events is a significant accomplishment, and having three crews represented demonstrated the remarkable progress, depth, and strength of the Women's Squad.

Meet The Crews:

Development 4+

The Development 4+ crew represented Swansea University Rowing Club at Henley Women's Regatta 2026, showcasing the strength and depth of the Women's Squad. Made up of Ella Napier, Poppy Stuart, Faye Watson, and Kate Butterwick, with Lydia Hunter-Todd guiding the crew from the cox's seat, the crew delivered a strong performance against competitive opposition.

The crew secured qualification for one of the most prestigious events in the rowing calendar and gained valuable racing experience on the Henley course, progressing through to the heats. Their performance reflected the dedication and progress made throughout the season and highlighted the continued development of athletes within Swansea University Women's Rowing.

Aspirational Lightweight 1x 

Charlie Moorby represented Swansea University Rowing Club in the Aspirational Lightweight Single Sculls event at Henley Women's Regatta 2026. Competing in a highly competitive field, Charlie demonstrated impressive determination, resilience, and technical ability throughout the event.

After successfully qualifying, Charlie progressed through the racing to reach the semi-finals, competing against some of the strongest lightweight scullers in the country. Her achievement reflects the hard work and commitment she has shown throughout the season and represents another strong result for the Women's Squad on the national stage.

Aspirational Academic 4-

The Aspirational Academic 4- crew represented Swansea University Rowing Club at Henley Women's Regatta 2026, racing against some of the strongest university and club crews in the country. Romy Foley, Frances Katirewa, Eunae Charlton-Harris, and Selina Jones showed exceptional commitment and teamwork to earn their place at this prestigious event.

The crew produced a strong performance throughout the competition, progressing through to the quarter-finals. Their result was a reflection of the ambition and progress of the Women's Squad, showcasing the high standards, determination, and competitive spirit that continue to drive Swansea University Rowing Club forward.
